UCA Theatre will present Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare on April 12, 13, 18, 19 and 20 at 7:30 pm in the Bridges/Larson Theatre of the Snow Fine Arts Center on the ÍøÆØÃÅ campus, 201 Donaghey, in Conway.
In this classic Shakespeare comedy, the beautiful Bianca cannot be married until her elder sister, Katharina, is betrothed. But getting someone to tolerate Kate’s shrewish behavior is a major obstacle. Enter Petruchio, a fortune-seeker, who takes on the challenge….for a price, of course. The 1967 film version featured Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton in the title roles.
The play is under the direction of assistant professor, Chris Fritzges, with set design by Technical Director, Tom Marhenke. Costume design is by associate professor, Shauna C. Meador with lighting design by ÍøÆØÃÅ Theatre student A. D. Balch.
Tickets for Taming of the Shrew are $10 each for the general public and 2 free with a current ÍøÆØÃÅ I.D. Reservations are highly encouraged and can be made by calling ÍøÆØÃÅ Ticket Central at 501-450-3265.
