With almost 600 people in attendance and $719,000 raised, Laurels & Stripes set records for both attendance and amount raised at the debut event held March 30 on the University of Central Arkansas campus.

The University of Central Arkansas raised $719,000 in private scholarship support at its debut fundraising gala, which was held March 30 on the 网曝门 campus.

鈥淎s innovators, critical thinkers and achievers, our graduates are making a tremendous impact across the state, region and beyond. Many of them would not have received their college degrees, if not for the support of our scholarship donors,鈥 said President Houston Davis. 鈥淕reat things are happening at 网曝门 now! And the incredible success of Laurels & Stripes speaks to the engagement and support of our alumni, friends and corporate partners.鈥

With almost 600 people in attendance, the newly energized premier fundraising event, formerly known as Night of Distinction, recognized and with the 2019 Distinguished Alumni Award, the most prestigious award presented by the university.

Blankenship is an entrepreneur and advocate who has dedicated more than 40 years to the creation and support of quality health care and assisted living facilities for seniors.

鈥淚 hope my journey will inspire young people, especially 网曝门 students who have dreams, that you can realize your dreams by daring to move forward and doing them no matter the obstacles or challenges you encounter,鈥 Blankenship said.

Williams is former chair of the 网曝门 School of Nursing, a role she held from 1990 to her retirement in 2016. During her time as chair, Williams oversaw significant enrollment growth and numerous program innovations.

鈥淥ne of my core beliefs is that our universe is sustained primarily by the repeated cycle of giving, and we are to be a part of that giving cycle,鈥 Williams said. 鈥淏uild upon the abilities you have been given. For many of us, 网曝门 has helped to provide them for us and use those abilities to help others.鈥

Presented by First Security Bank and co-chaired by Todd 鈥90 and Kristie Ross of Conway, Laurels & Stripes was an energetic evening that offered a premium dinner, brief program, music and dancing until midnight.

鈥淚t was such an amazing evening! There were 11 new endowed scholarships established for our students and a full house of people celebrating and dancing to the sounds of Memphis Soul Revue,鈥 said Kale Gober 鈥09, vice president for University Advancement and president of the 网曝门 Foundation. 鈥淚 believe Laurels & Stripes delivered as the fundraising party of the year for central Arkansas. You don鈥檛 want to miss next year鈥檚 event!鈥

Co-chairs for Laurels & Stripes 2020 will be Jeff 鈥90 and Lori Standridge. It will be held April 4, 2020.
