The black bear that recently visited a residence near campus reminded me how fortunate we are that the black bear is ÍøÆØÃÅ’s mascot. As many of you know, ÍøÆØÃÅ did not have a mascot until 1920. Before then, sports writers referred to our athletic teams as, Tutors, Teachers, Normalites, The Normal Eleven, Pea Pickers and Pedagogues.
